Delhi’s Bold Strategy to Improve Air Quality: Expanding Sprinklers and Anti-Smog Guns

Strengthening Pollution Control Infrastructure in Delhi

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has unveiled an extensive plan to intensify efforts against the city’s persistent air pollution by broadening its network of water sprinklers and deploying additional anti-smog guns. This initiative targets the worsening air quality, especially during winter months when smog thickens due to climatic factors combined with emissions from vehicles and construction activities. By increasing these pollution-mitigating devices, MCD aims to provide immediate relief during peak smog episodes while laying groundwork for sustained environmental improvement.

The deployment will prioritize critical zones such as:

  • Busy Traffic Corridors: Areas with heavy vehicular movement where exhaust fumes significantly contribute to airborne pollutants.
