TikTok has released its latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, covering the period from April to June 2024, underscoring its commitment to maintaining a safe, authentic, and joyful platform for over a billion users. With more than 40,000 trust and safety professionals and advanced moderation technology, TikTok continues to enforce its robust Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and Advertising Policies across all content.
The report reveals significant improvements in TikTok’s content moderation. Automated moderation technology now removes 80% of violative videos, up from 62% a year ago. The platform’s proactive detection rate hit a new high, with 98.2% of harmful videos removed before user reports. This enhancement reflects TikTok’s investment in advanced technologies that reduce human exposure to violative content while improving content understanding and risk prediction.
In addition to video removals, TikTok is increasing transparency by expanding its reporting to include comment removal data through new visual charts. The report also highlights a decrease of more than half in the proportion of total videos restored after removal compared to a year ago, further showcasing TikTok’s dedication to maintaining a secure digital environment.
To offer deeper insights into its ongoing efforts, TikTok has introduced a stand-alone quarterly security report, detailing the platform’s global measures to defend safety and integrity. These updates reinforce TikTok’s long-standing commitment to transparency and ensuring user safety across its global community.
